Tree Journal -> Water Under Bridge
A view from one of Fish Creek Park’s many bridges—where water moves and trees grow.
Water Under Bridge
My obsession with trees that refuse to grow straight.
My daily run takes me across several beautiful bridges in Fish Creek Park, where I’ve become fascinated by trees growing at unusual angles along the creek. As erosion reshapes the banks, some lean diagonally over the water, reaching out in their own unexpected direction.
This series grew from a daily ritual. Halfway through my run, just before the big steep hill, I cross a particular bridge where I stop to photograph or film one of these leaning trees. Watching the water move beneath me, I imagine my troubles drifting away with the current.
